How we work
Bring us the decision or technical problem.
We help foreign teams assess Chinese labs, engineering partners and pilot facilities, and help founders plan local operations. Start with a short project email; we agree the research and coordination needed.
Project research · Fixed initial scopes
Choose the brief that moves your project forward.
Start with a free initial screening of your project. When there is a clear fit, the project lead may make a first introduction at their discretion. Further research, repeated matching, outreach and execution are agreed as paid work.
From US$1,200
Lab & Pilot Access Brief
Find a credible route to the lab, test or pilot your project needs.
For one defined technical milestone, receive a shortlist of up to five relevant facilities, a comparison of published capabilities and a documented access route. The brief records what is confirmed, what the provider has stated and what remains unanswered.
- One requirements call and source review.
- One outreach round to up to three priority providers.
- A written brief, a decision call and one clarification revision.
- Likely contracting route, required project information and available cost or lead-time indications.
First written brief: 5–7 working days after the scope and required inputs are agreed.

Technology Demand Match Brief
Find the published technology demands your product can credibly address.
For one technology and target application, receive up to five relevant demand records, a fit-and-gap assessment, a recommended shortlist and a concise approach brief for the strongest matches.
- One requirements call and source review.
- One outreach round to up to three priority demand owners.
- A written brief, a decision call and one clarification revision.
- Current demand status, overseas participation and procurement or collaboration terms marked as confirmed, pending or unanswered.
First written brief: 7–10 working days after the scope and required inputs are agreed.
Request a demand-fit screeningWhat the initial fee covers
The delivery times apply to the first written brief. Replies received within the agreed research window are incorporated; unanswered questions remain visible at delivery. Third-party replies are not a condition of delivering the initial brief on time. Institutions decide project acceptance, quotations, eligibility and contracts.
Lab fees, travel, sample testing, legal advice, tender preparation, negotiation and management or delivery of the underlying project are outside these base scopes. Additional work is separately agreed. Recorded project investment is project context; an available procurement budget or invitation to bid needs specific confirmation.
Where Founder Landing Sprint fits
Founder Landing Sprint remains the broader business and location decision service, typically US$1,000–1,500 for an initial founder scope. It helps decide the operating model, company and work-status questions, and where the business or working base belongs. The two technical briefs above focus on a defined facility-access or technology-demand task. Choose the scope that fits the decision; a Sprint is not a prerequisite, and overlapping research is scoped once.
Two working modes
What are you trying to get done?
Move a technical bottleneck.
For teams seeking a laboratory, engineering capability, validation setting, supplier, factory, application environment or specialist counterpart. Start with the system, failure mode and next milestone.
What are you building? →Plan a business or working base in China.
For founders deciding whether China fits, which operating model applies, what structure is feasible and where each required function belongs.
Compare Founder Routes →How an engagement begins
Email Leo a non-confidential outline: what you are doing, its current stage, the help needed and your timing. You can also reply in an existing conversation. Leo reviews whether we may be able to help and asks for any missing facts. The Founder Fit Check is optional.
You can start this conversation without a Chinese entity. We first look at the work and the resources it needs, then identify where a local entity becomes necessary.
The initial screening and any discretionary first introduction help identify whether there is a useful next step. Ongoing research, additional matching, document preparation and coordination have a defined paid scope.
That work may include technical-brief preparation, counterpart-facing materials, technical review coordination, engineering or validation scope definition, execution-option comparison, project development and ongoing coordination. It begins only under a written scope identifying the commissioning party, our role, deliverables, payer, fees and any approved external outreach.
What the work does
We find relevant organisations, prepare the questions they need to answer, and check the practical terms: who can contract, what can be done, available dates, costs and ownership of the result. The brief compares the options and proposes a concrete next step.
We consider commercial suppliers, research institutions and shared testing or pilot-production facilities. Public programmes enter the comparison when they change cost, eligibility, access or timing.
For example, a robotics team may need a facility to reproduce a specific failure. The work is to establish whether that facility can run the test, what the team must supply and what it will cost.
Verification
What we check with the organisation
- Published capability and the official mechanism behind it.
- Whether the named counterpart or facility is relevant to the actual project.
- Eligibility, access route, dates, costs, support, data terms and decision owner.
- The smallest experiment that can resolve the material uncertainty.
Recommendations and commercial structure
Technical and operating fit determines the recommended route. Execution economics then asks what the work costs, who pays and whether it remains practical. Receiving-side compensation does not make a location technically superior or turn a policy into evidence of access.
Meridian Flow LLC may be paid by the foreign organisation, a Chinese receiving-side organisation or another project participant for separately defined work. We disclose the existence and nature of a materially relevant receiving-side financial relationship before the client relies on the recommendation.
Clients may decline introductions, compare quotations and use their own providers.
Fees follow the written scope. The two technical briefs and Founder Landing Sprint cover different decisions; their scopes and starting prices are listed above. Multi-party execution and field-heavy work are priced against the agreed project requirements.
Stop conditions
A useful engagement can recommend waiting, changing route or stopping.
- China does not materially improve the current bottleneck.
- The required capability cannot be verified or cannot be accessed by the project.
- Transition and coordination costs outweigh the expected benefit.
- The project is not ready to use the capability or a better route exists elsewhere.
Protect confidential technical information.
Initial contact needs only enough information to define the problem. Do not send source code, full bills of materials, unpublished formulas, trade secrets, proprietary datasets, confidential customer lists, sensitive clinical information or export-controlled technical documentation.
If deeper review is needed, agree the scope, confidentiality framework and permitted recipients first, including an NDA where appropriate. External outreach or material sharing requires written authority covering the intended counterpart and information boundary.
Cross-border technical exchange remains subject to applicable export-control and technology-transfer restrictions.
What the client receives
Files that support a decision and handoff.
Decision Brief
Recommendation, alternatives, evidence, open questions and conditions for continuing.
Capability Shortlist
Candidate capabilities linked to the task, evidence and next access question.
Verification Log
Published facts, direct answers, unresolved questions, owners and dates.
Recommended Experiment
Inputs, responsibilities, schedule, budget assumptions and continuation criteria.
Next-Action Handover
Named owners and deadlines for the actions that survived verification.
Where counterpart outreach or access verification is included in scope, the work also records who was contacted, what was confirmed, and what remains project-specific.
Professional boundaries
Regulated judgments remain with the responsible specialist or authority.
CyberNomad China provides source-led research, business consulting, factual verification, field research and project coordination. Formal legal, tax, immigration, accounting, administrative, clinical or regulatory judgment remains with the competent authority or appropriately qualified specialist.
Handoff
Continue only with the work the evidence supports.
Execute independently
Use the files with your own team and providers.
Continue with CyberNomad
Agree a separate scope for additional verification, introductions, fieldwork or coordination.
Change route
Use the evidence to redirect the unresolved function to another counterpart or geography.
Stop
Retain the decision record without purchasing downstream implementation.
